News from 2002
18/07/02:
Congratulations
to all Mathematics students at today's Graduation ceremony,
and in particular, to Gareth Evans,
one of the recipients of the Dr John Roberts Jones Open Award for 2002.
Mathematics students have an excellent record in winning these prizes
(see item 10/07/01 below).
Here is the message from our Head of School announcing the news:
"I am sure you wil all be pleased to learn that Gareth Evans,
who graduates with an M.Math. degree this week,
has been awarded one of this year's Dr John Robert Jones Prize
(Welsh Award) worth £1100.
The competition for UWB's top student award was extremely tough this year.
Two of the 4 winning candidates (all of whom will receive a prize of £1100
signifying equivalent levels of performance)
qualified for both the Open and Welsh Award."

will of the late Dr John Roberts Jones of Hong Kong,
