             Semiconductor and Integrated Optoelectronics

 SIOE’08

Cardiff , Wales, UK,  31 March  - 2 April 2008

 

Including a   focus section on nanophotonics**

 

The 22nd  meeting in the   ‘ Semiconductor and Integrated Optoelectronics ‘ ( SIOE ) series will be held in Cardiff,Wales,UK between 17-19 March 2008. 

 

Contributions are  sought in the form of oral papers (15 minutes including discussion) and poster papers. Abstracts (1 A4 page in a form suitable for direct reproduction) should be sent before

Contributions are invited on the following topics:

 

1.    Growth and fabrication including quantum well, wire, dash and dot materials and devices.

2.    Mid-infra-red semiconductor opto-electronics.

3.    Microcavity and photonic bandgap effects in semiconductor optoelectronic devices. 

4.        Semiconductor lasers and sources: eg DFB/DBR, surface emitters and intersubband lasers.

5.        Semiconductor-based THz sources and detectors

6.        Polymer optical devices including LEDS and Lasers   

7.    Theory and technology of guided wave devices.

8.    Detectors, modulators and amplifiers.

9.    Spatial and temporal switching.

10.    Optical and opto-electronic integrated circuits.

11   Optical microwave interactions.

12.  Applications.

 

** At SIOE’08 it is planned to incorporate a focus session on nano-photonics ;

proposals for specific contributions on this topic are welcomed as potential keynote presentations.**
